This class introduces students to the contemporary Spanish political system. First, we will study the process of the transition to democracy from an authoritarian regime. With the adoption of the new Spanish constitution, we will look at political institutions, political parties, autonomous regions, 君主制, the Catholic Church, and the military. Special emphasis will be placed on changing socioeconomic factors, 民族主义, immigration and terrorism.
